Anne Lewis-Forker
Anne Lewis-Forker, 86
While most of Anne’s teaching and service career took place in California, where she lived from 1978-2016, she grew up in Wichita and graduated from KU. She was a tenured professor in psychology at Santa Barbara Community College, and then became a therapist at Santa Barbara Family Services Agency, working with at-risk elementary school students and their parents. When Anne retired in 2014, she had clients throughout the U.S. Today, back in Kansas City, she is a member of Church of the Resurrection and is co-chair of the Christianity and Culture Class’ Curriculum Committee. She also volunteers with Compassionate Friends in Johnson County. After the death of her two young sons in 1973, she now brings the perspective of 50 years’ experience in helping parents who have lost a child. She served on a panel at the Compassionate Friends Annual Conference in New Orleans this summer.
