Dr. Dhana Rengachary
Dr. Dhana Rengachary, 86
Dhana has worked at Swope Health for the past 47 years, where her medical practice is in gynecology and obstetrics, especially high-risk pregnancies. Her patient list now includes women whose daughters she delivered and who are now grown and bring their own daughters to her for care. Her style of practice is deeply caring, making a point of understanding the whole of a person’s life and treating everyone she encounters with dignity and respect. The Chief Health Officer at Swope Health says, “Dr. Rengachary is such an inspiration to me personally and to all of the care team at Swope Health. She is a role model for generations for her commitment to health care as a basic human right.” A passionate educator and lifelong learner, Dhana also served for 28 years as an assistant clinical professor at the UMKC School of Medicine, and an educational scholarship in her name funds medical students in India, her birthplace.
