Jim Stevens has always lived his life to the fullest. A survivor of six cancers and two cardiac arrests, he has always been driven to celebrate life. During his career he served as president of eight different professional organizations. He was the founder of Creative Planning, Inc., a financial planning firm in Kansas City. Jim is also a frequent speaker at the Shepherd’s Center’s Adventures in Learning program, sharing information about his travels. After retirement, Jim started “Wings Over Mid-America,” which later became “Angel Flight Central,” where pilots volunteer their time to take people in need to places such as The Mayo Clinic. This wonderful organization now covers a 10-state area and has continued to thrive for 28 years, completing more than 33,000 flights. Jim was honored in being designated as the program’s “founder and chairman emeritus,” and he was also recognized with the “Symbol of Caregiving” by Fox 4 News.
