Jerry Harrington
Jerry Harrington, 72
Jerry has always been a devoted movie buff. After graduating from film school, he took a job at the Bijou Theater in Westport, which developed into a nearly 40-year career running Tivoli Cinemas, Kansas City’s oldest independent theater. After the theater shut down in 2019, Jerry thought he would retire – until the Nelson-Atkins Museum asked him to revive the Tivoli in the Atkins Auditorium at the museum, where he serves as film curator for a wildly diverse range of movies. He also expanded the program into Theater Under the Stars, one of the most popular events at the Nelson. Jerry has also volunteered time and talent to help grow the Kansas City Film Festival International and has served as a volunteer for other nonprofits including SAVE Inc. and the AIDS Foundation.
