Karta Purkh is still very active in a wide variety of teaching and community advocacy activities. He was a founding member of the Greater KC Interfaith Council and has been an active board member since 1989. He received the Steve Jeffers Leadership Service Award in 2023 for his work with and for the council. He has been active in Sikh Dharma International’s efforts for peace and has participated in at least five 60-mile, three-day Peace Walks. He has served as Director of the 3HO Foundation of Missouri since 1980 and has taught Kundalini Yoga and Meditation since 1976 in multiple venues, including state and federal prisons, universities and community colleges, churches and community centers. He is an adjunct professor at UMKC, teaching courses in Kundalini Yoga and Meditation in the Physical Education and Psychology and Counseling departments and is a Level 3 certified trainer for the KRI International Training Academy. He is also a published author and award-winning photographer.
