Marie retired in 2014 after 40 years at UMB Bank, and since then she has been active in city government and volunteering. In Kearney, Mo., she has served as an alderman, on planning and zoning, parks and recreation, the Senior Center Board and the Kearney Resource Fair, educating people about recycling. She currently serves on the Kearney Use Tax Steering Committee and the Chamber of Commerce’s Tourism Committee, as well as on the Clay County Senior Services Board. She has served on the Mid-American Regional Council’s Waste Management Board, and has been a election judge and poll worker in Jackson County for 20 years and in Clay County for 15 years. Marie says, “I believe that each time I volunteer, I leave behind a footprint in hopes that others will see and volunteer their time as well.
