Patricia Burton
Patricia G. Burton
Patricia has dedicated her career to serving older adults and their families. She continues to serve them now that she has entered that category herself. She is a gerontologist and counselor affiliated with CenterPoint Counseling and Recovery. During her career, she worked in the Governor's Offices in Missouri and Georgia and at the University of North Carolina and the UMKC School of Medicine. She served three terms on the Johnson County Commission on Aging, chairing several committees and serving on the Executive Board. In her time there, she was actively involved in identifying the needs of the county's senior residents and encouraging coordination among aging service organizations. She and her late husband, Dr. Jerald Burton, are co-editors of the book The Proven Experiment: Looking Back at the UMKC School of Medicine, published in 2015 about the groundbreaking medical school. She has mentored many medical students from UMKC and KU, and is a frequent speaker to health professionals and seniors on topics related to aging.
