Phyllis Ragsdale
Phyllis Ragsdale, 73
Phyllis retired from Kansas City Public Schools after 36 years of serving as an elementary teacher, professional developer, and administrator. She has remained very active in the community since her retirement. Her public service to underserved communities is through her memberships in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and the Links, Incorporated. She has a passion for inspiring youth to become aware of STEM education and opportunities. In 2023, she received the President’s Gold Volunteer Service Award from AmeriCorps. Presently, she serves on the board of MO Hives KC, which creates bee farms on vacant urban lots and other agricultural science learning opportunities. Phyllis is an affiliated leader of the mentoring program for the Kansas City, MO Pen or Pencil Expansion program of the National Alliance of Faith and Justice.
