Rev. Ken Pegue, 73
Ken is a Navy veteran, honorably discharged in 1971 and then joined the KC Fire Department, where he served until 2021. He became ordained as a minister in the African Methodist Episcopal Church in 2004 and received his BS degree in Biblical Studies in 2017. He has served two congregations over a 22-year span and now serves as Senior Pastor at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church. He is certified in addiction counseling, serves as chaplain for Local 42IAFF and serves on the boards of Benilde Hall and CCO, both local nonprofits. He is actively involved in helping those addicts who are using and attempting to recover, and he makes a weekly 200-mile round trip every Monday to the Women’s Correctional Facility at Chillicothe, MO providing spiritual and addiction counseling to those affected by drugs and alcohol.
