How We Advocate for Older Adults
At KC Shepherd’s Center, advocacy is at the core of our mission to improve the lives of older adults. We use a range of strategies to address critical issues and create meaningful change in our community. From shaping public policy to engaging the community, our efforts ensure that older adults are supported, respected, and empowered to live with dignity and purpose.
Our Advocacy Strategies
Policy Advocacy
We work closely with local and state lawmakers, as well as other advocacy groups, to identify and influence public policies that affect seniors. Our goal is to ensure that laws and regulations prioritize the needs of older adults, addressing issues like healthcare, housing, transportation, and elder justice.
Community Engagement
We believe that change starts at the grassroots level. By mobilizing community members, we raise awareness and inspire action on issues that impact older adults. From organizing campaigns to hosting local advocacy events, we empower individuals to be a voice for seniors in our community.
Partnerships & Coalitions
Collaboration is key to our advocacy efforts. We partner with other aging agencies and non-profit organizations to amplify our message and create a united front for addressing senior issues. Together, we achieve greater impact and build a stronger network of support for older adults.
Public Education
Education is a powerful tool for change. Through events, forums, and informational materials, we inform the public about the challenges facing older adults and the opportunities to support them. Our goal is to equip individuals, families, and communities with the knowledge they need to take meaningful action.
